Oakwood High School had an exciting start to the morning, the 2013 homecoming court was announced at the pep-assembly. The court consists of one male attendant and one female attendant from the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes, and five male and five female attendants for the senior class. One boy and one girl from senior attendants are voted on by the whole school to determine the Homecoming King and Queen. This will be announced on the Friday of the homecoming football game.
The freshmen attendants are Zach Anderson and Rebecca Divan. Representing the sophomores are Hank Chestnut and Somer Wells. The juniors voted Kane Lafoe and Delaney Durst as their attendants.
“I was very surprised. It was a very exhilarating experience,” Junior Kane Lafoe said.
The male seniors voted to be on this year’s court are: Alex Anderson, Cole Burris, Tristan Cox, Andrew Curley, and Alex Schmit. The female attendants are: Amelia Burke, Madison Denhart, MaKenzie Gayler, Brittany Hargrove, and Jennifer Harper.
The seniors seemed happy to have made it on the court. After the pep assembly they were laughing, joking, and having a good time. They are all a big group of friends, and enjoyed being voted together.
“I was happy that all of my best friends are on the court with me,” said Senior Andrew Curley.
The entire homecoming court will have some specific duties that go along with being voted by their classmates. They will be involved in the homecoming pep assembly, riding in the homecoming parade, and a part of the halftime parade of the homecoming dance.
Oakwood’s Homecoming football game is October 4th, with the Homecoming dance on the 5th.
